Isaiah 43:1-13
“But now, this is what the Lord says – He who created you, Jacob, He who formed you, Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are Mine.” 43:1 – from my cousin, Hannah
This section of Isaiah is proclaiming who Israel’s only Savior is – Jesus. It never mentions Jesus’s name, it calls Him Lord, because He has not been born yet. But, He was and is and always will be. He is promising that Israel will be saved – when they pass through the waters and rivers and walk through the fire. They are precious and honored in His sight. He loves them and they do not have to be afraid.
At first, this seems irrelevant to me, as a Christian, today because it is talking about Israel and if you are not born into the Jewish nation, it would seem that these words are not for you. However, we have words from the New Testament that show that these words ARE meant for us today as well.
“He predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will-” Ephesians 1:5
“He came to that which was His own, but His own did not receive Him. Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name He gave the right to become children of God – children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.” John 1:11-13
These words apply to us today! He is with us. He is our only Savior! We do NOT have to be afraid!
